A common problem that many merchants run into when they enable PayPal as a payment option is that some orders enter into BV Commerce without a phone number. This can be a problem if the merchant needs to contact the customer regarding their order.
The reason for this is that PayPal, by default, does not require customers to enter a phone number. Fortunately, it is possible to configure PayPal to require this. To do this, simply follow the steps below:
- Log into your PayPal account at paypal.com.
- Click on the gear icon in the top right corner and select "Account Settings."
- Click on "Website Payments" in the menu to the left (near the bottom).
- Click on the "Update" button next to "Website Preferences."
- Under "Contact telephone number," select "On (required field)" to require your customers to enter a phone number (see screenshot below).
