Curious if anyone out there has successfully setup Office365 as their mail server in BV2015? A client is using O365 and we would like emails to originate from their account but can't seem to get it working properly. I've confirmed all SMTP settings are correct by setting the account up in Outlook and testing. Unfortunately the error message in BV doesn't tell you much other than your test failed, and there's nothing in the audit logs to point us in the right direction.

I'm thinking it may have something to do with O365 requiring TLS1.2 when authenticating but haven't been able to confirm.

Anyone out there have similar issues or know of a solution?

Settings being used as follows:

Mail server: smtp.office365.com
Use Basic SMTP authentication: Yes
Username: full e-mail address
Password: have verified it's correct
Use SSL for SMTP: Yes (have tried No as well)
SMTP Port: 587 (explicitly required by O365)

Thanks
Aaron

I haven't used Office 365, but it sounds like you have things configured properly.

That's a good thought. Have you checked your site's SSL cert with the tester below to make sure that things are configured properly?

Thanks Aaron - I'll check and see what I can find out.

Any chance of getting some additional logging for e-mail errors in future versions?

Logging was actually removed from earlier versions because of the number of entries that it was adding to the Audit Log. If you have Visual Studio and are willing to recompile the Core, it's easy enough to modify the code to log this. Let me know, and I can point you in the right direction.

I had a very similar issue a couple of weeks ago. Turned out the Web Application Firewall in front of the web server(s) was blocking access on the email ports such as 587, 465 etc.

These are closed by default on a PCI enabled firewall.

Edit, would be nice feature to be able to turn the email logging on or off from the mail settings. Default the setting to off in order to prevent adding to much info to the audit trails?
