Hi -

We have a customer that wants to use the Cart Abandonment email functionality in BV 2015. I see that there is now an option to send an email to customers who have abandoned their carts using one of the existing email templates. We will create a new email template for this purpose but are curious if there are any specific tokens that can or cannot / should or should not be used in the email template.

We include a basic template which you can feel free to customize. You'll notice that the system logs how many times each customer has been emailed (and also logs to the order private notes which template was sent). The purpose of this is so that you can craft a multi-step remarketing campaign using different templates. You can then filter the list for customers that you've emailed once and then second the second email template to that group (and so on).

You can use these replacement tags:

  • [[Site.*]]
  • [[Order.*]] -- not all of these fields will have values depending on what information the customer has entered
  • [[LineItem.*]]
  • [[Product.*]]

One other thing to keep in mind...unless the customer is clicking links in the email from the same device where they created their cart, they will not have access to their cart. Carts are associated with cookies and each device will have a different cookie.
