This seems like an easy one and common sense, upon account setup/one page checkout give the customers the option to create a username and password so they can track their orders. Mail a confirmation as part of the order... |

I just have to chuckle because the reason why the one page checkout was created without account creation was because of the inordinate amount of time spent arguing against account creation... :)

 You'll never win Marcus

I don't want to force them to create an account. I want them to have the option to create an account. Mybe a check box on the one page checkout that would create an account as they checkout. If they don't want to create an account that is fine with me, but i would like to make it easy for them during the checkout process. |

I think the only fight was over it taking 3 or 4 steps/pages to get it done. I think this should be handled in two ways: 1. In admin we have the ability to check a box that says "auto create account for customer at checkout". This must check against previous email addresses etc. If the address exists give the customer notification that they already have the account and the ability to retrieve the password via email. 2. If the box is unchecked in admin, have what Dan suggests in a box that can be checked by the end user. To tie this up neatly we should discuss whether or not customers should be allowed to create a password or have it emailed to them? I'd rather have them create it. PromoManagersPromo Items |

Agreed, it eliminates a step for the application during what I feel is the most important part of the process. Some sites I've used will autocreate a password and send the confirmation email about it. Usually tend to forget to go and change it so if and when I go back to shop there it usually takes an extra amount of time because I have to either dig for the confirm email with the password or have the system send me a reminder email. I like to think I'm unique but I'm sure I'm not the only one that does this... :) |

We actually have an in house component that does almost exactly what HPros has described. Netriplex Corporation Custom Bvc5 Development - "Helping to Build Your Store, Your Way" Check out our "Tax in Product Pricing" modulehttp://bvc5demo.netriplexboston.com |
