Greetings all. I'm looking for some helpful suggestions on how to best manage my product images within BV5. I haven't touched the application since BV4, and would appreciate and advice you might offer.

My store will sell downloadable PowerPoint templates, and each template will have 3 or more slides in it. I am looking to render images for each slide (small, medium and large). What is the most practical method for doing this?

    * Should I render all of the images in advance; ftp them into /images, and then manually associate the images with each product?

    * Is there a method to automate the above?

In previous versions, I created a standardized file naming convention using <sku#><image number> and <size>. Therefore, the 3 sizes for a single slide might be:

001234-1-S.jpg
001234-1-M.jpg
001234-1-L.jpg

Q: One of the reasons I did this in BV4 was that the built-in image resizing tool left resized image blurry. Has that tool improved?
Q: Is there any way to automate the association of each image file to each product? It seems like this would be an area ripe for automation. I haven't been able to find any info on this yet.
Q: What other product / image management shortcuts can you recommend based on your experience?

Many thanks all!

PowerPoint,

I've been working on a plugin for this for a while now. I have it running on my sites but had no time to package it for others as I have several other projects in development. I might try to publish this soon.
What I have is:
1. Add a single image to the product, the plugin will generate the small and medium ones and attach them to the product.
2. Find images for products (will do a search by SKU) and assign the images to the product.
3. Apply watermark on the original large image.
If it's urgent for you I'll hurry and release it as there were several other ppl requesting this.
Regards,
Corneliu

Any update on when this plug-in will be ready? Just switched to BVC5 and really miss the functionality from 2004.

We need it too. Especially the watermark part. We really need the watermark on the medium image too.
