Hello forum members,

I have installed:

sqlserverexp2005 and the sqlserverexp2005 toolkit onto Windows Vista Ultimate and had no problems doing this except this notice in the log for both these installs:

- IIS Feature Requirement (Warning)
Messages
* IIS Feature Requirement

* Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) is either not installed or is disabled.
IIS is required by some SQL Server features. Without IIS, some SQL Server features will
not be available for installation. To install all SQL Server features, install IIS from
Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel or enable the IIS service through the Control Panel
if it is already installed, and then run SQL Server Setup again. For a list of features that
depend on IIS, see Features Supported by Editions of SQL Server in Books Online.

However I know that IIS 6.0 is installed because i have already tested it in my IE browser.

So then I have tried to:

install BV5sp2 and that was successful, however I went to Run the BV5 Site manager tool, and it failed to execute the form in order to create a new BV5 commerce site, here is the error message I received:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I have installed the incorrect versions of MS SQL server express and the toolkit?

Have I not registered the 2.0 Framework properly and that is why the form in BV5 site manager will not execute?

Will this not work on Vista?

Can someone please help me this? I have been stuck on this for 2 days now.

Thank you,

Dan

1) Make sure you right-click and run the site manager program "as administrator" in Vista.

2) Make sure you have "IIS 6 Compatibility mode" turned on in Vista. IIS 7 which ships with vista needs the compatibility mode to enable some features for the site manager.

Marcus,

thank your for this help.

I made sure IIS 7.0 is in Compatibiltiy Mode and that worked to enable features for the site manager. this worked great.

I also right clicked the site manager and ran as administrator.

this has worked great so far, as I am now at the the site manager form and inputting my environment settings. however when I select Use SQL Login and enter user and password it does not work.

(I have attached a screenshot below to show the example and the problem.)

If I use Integrated Security. (it works fine as you can see by the screenshot.)

However I get a 404.3 error (as you can see by the screenshot)

I do not know what I am doing incorrect. I have followed everything exact and have no idea why this is happening?

Can you help me Marcus, I remember you walked me through this before and we were both able to fix the problem last time.

Thank you for your time and help.
