I've only been able to find tools which require .net 3.5. I'm on .net 2.0. Help.

How are you determining your version? You most likely have 3.5 installed. Check 'add remove programs' list. Are you talking about your local machine here? |

Roxy,
Just to clarify, the data migration tool requires .NET 3.5 to be installed on the computer that runs the migration tool. It does not require that BV Commerce, or even the server that it's on, have .NET 3.5 installed. |

I am running this on my localhost.
I have .NET Framework 3.5 sp1 so I should be good right?
Now the issue is that I have bvc 2004.0, not bvc 2004.7. Wondering if I can still use this tool?
Thanks!

Yes, you should be good. Not sure about using the import tool on 2004.0...you'll have to give it a try. :) Good luck! |

The data migration tool failed, probably because I'm on 2004.0. We only sell 1 item, a Gift Card. Other than having to re-enter all the data using the admin tool, are there any other disadvantages of not migrating the data (realize we would also lose historic information). What other options are there for migrating the data??? I also emailed [email protected] with my version information and haven't received a response.

Roxy,
I think you've covered the cons for not migrating your data. If you still want to do a migration you have two options:
1. upgrade your copy of BVC 2004 to the latest version (or a version supported by the import tool) 2. perform a manual migration at the database level
I would recommend #1 as it will probably be faster and less error-prone. |
