Hello I was wondering if anyone has done this yet or knows of an easy way to do this through customization?
We would like to have our phone orders directly inputed into the store using the new Order feature in 2005. The thing is though from time to time we need to modify the price of the item while the order is being taken. And its only for that particualar order in question. Right now when a New order is placed and an SKU item is added to the order there is no way to do this.
Does anyone know of a way around this? |

I'm thinking that after the order is entered, you can than go and edit the order, which should permit you to adjust the price. This may not be the quick and easy answer, but I imagine that is due to the fact that the enter order procedure follows that of the customer entering the order, which does not permit the customer to edit the price, which makes sense.

I have not figured out how to edit a SKU item individually.
What we've done is go to "Edit Order", and use the "Admin Discounts: " line to add or subtract the price. To have a discount, simply add the discount you want to take off. To add an amount, we have to use a negative number. :) It just adjusts the order total and not the individual item unfortunately. I see no way around this, but would also like to know if there is a way. |

What I'd like is the ability to construct a product right on the order form as the order is taken on the phone, in the event you can sell something that isn't in the database. Seems odd if you sell bottles of shampoo, but I make custom furniture, and there are times when offering a medicine cabinet with 250+ possible configurations isn't enough.
Placing an order this way attached all of the automatic features: email confirmations, credit card handling, tracking numbers, etc. |

Mitch, this may not help since this is a BV5 thread, but if you are also using 2004.7 while you develop your BV5 then the variable priced product would do what you want. http://www.merchantcheckout.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=BBC-BV-VP |

I thinking I am not making myself clear on this one?
when you goto the admin page and goto the orders tab there is a link for New orders.
This allows somone like our phone rep's to take an order directly into the shopping cart software instead of going through something like quickbooks to generate the customers orders.
In that New Order section we would like the Phone rep to have the capability to modify the Price of the item at the time they are taking the order. |

Jonathan,
The type of behavior you are asking for is the behavior of a full up accounting system, which I do not believe is the intent of the shopping cart software. I see where you are coming from, but you need to realize that this add order feature for merchants is most likely using the same software procedures as the customer add order feature uses. To make the two tasks totally different would be the start of a full up accounting system, and would eventually get out of control, as more people would be wanting more accounting functionality. Does the edit order functionality of BV 5 permit the merchant to adjust the price of an item in the order? BV2004 does, so I'm thinking BV 5 does. I have not looked into this as of yet, which is why I ask.

I have a client that does more phone orders than web orders because of the industry and price tag of most products. These orders require time on the phone, answering questions and some salesperson savvy.
Time and time again, my client has mentioned that it would be icing on the cake to be able to say on the phone "tell you what, if you purchase right now, I'll take another 10% off..." or "hey, you've ordered here before, I'm going to knock the shipping charges off this order...."
Being able to punch this in the new order feature is money to my client. I would not put this burden on BV to introduce into the software, I suggest contacting a developer to integrate this. Pinging your site tells me you're with Resposio, I'd drop them a line :) |

Hello Matt,
I was just wondering if someone out there has already done something like this. If not I am sure I can come up with my own modification. I just thought that with this new feature other store owners might have already wanted to do something like this and have come up with something.
Anyway, when I come up with a solution for this and its not too much of a hack job I'll share with the community. =) |

Hey John,
We haven't started into this yet on BV5 as we're currently right in the middle of catalog update time. We'll begin the BV5 integration soon after completion and during that time we were going to tackle this capability.
We have the timeframe setup for a 2 month overhaul so it won't really time up with your current needs as I would happily share the result as well. |

Jonm, I think what you request is already part of SP2. I know there were several requests to allow you to edit all the details of the order including the prices. If SP2 will not have it in I'll get my version fixed soon and I'll try to share the code as I badly need this feature. Corneliu. |

Great to hear.
If its not in SP2 then I would love a mod from either one of you. Thanks so much for the responses. |
