I was wondering if I set up a FedEx shipping option, when a customer checks out, does it actually charge the credit card I have on file with Fedex for the shipment or is it just an estimate that is given.

My warehouse uses FedEx so I need a shipping estimate to be charged to the customer, but my warehouse will take care of everything and then charge me. I don't want FedEx to charge my account upon the customer purchase.

The package isn't 'created' until you ship. This is important because you can bundle items in the order together to create the package that will ship. So no, Fed Ex doesn't charge you until you go to a Fed Ex site (like Fed Ex Ship Manager) and make a label.

I STRONGLY recommend using Shipper for handling shipping.
