Is there a special add-on or an application, possibly web based, that I could use to co-browse websites with my friend?
So that I could see the contents of my friends screen, when he's surfing the web.

I use MSN's Remote Assistance a lot.
Just login to MSN Messenger, Open a chat window with your friend and click on "See a list of activities" and "Request remote assistance".
Alternatively you can use Shared View which is about the same but works over all types of firewalls.
Regards,
Corneliu.

I use ichat on my mac with screen share. Then you can rotate between the screen fairly seamlessly. Just another way though for those mac users out there. I really like it because it has the voice feature. Not certain MSN does that as seamlessly.

Well, at first I would have recommended VNC and other similar remote control software, but if it's just the browser screen sharing you want, then why don't you try
Screen2.com. It's simple and web based.

Hello,

Microsoft Shared View is good. Requires Windows Live ID
http://www.microsoft.com/downloadS/details.aspx?FamilyID=bbdbd839-9597-4133-9b86-6d440fe9522b&displaylang=en

Hold more effective meetings and conference calls
Connect with up to 15 people in different locations and get your point across by showing them what's on your screen.

Work together in real time
Share, review, and update documents with multiple people in real time.

Use when and where you want
SharedView is easy to use, from anywhere, at a moment's notice.

New in Beta 2!
Now even easier to use, with improvements to the sign-in and join experience, group chat to send messages to others in the session, and performance improvements!

Thanks,
TJ Havens
